Unscripted: The Archive
Unscripted has been evolved and changed over the years, but the core goal of the series has never changed. The Unscripted series was created to allow folks to gain an insight into the minds of artists, musicians, writers, and creatives of all kinds while also providing them a memorable experience. Below is a short archive of some of the Unscripted series that TAP has been proud to host.
Unscripted: Film Edition with Joe Haidar and Rob McCallum
We were excited to be joined by director Rob McCallum and Disney animator Joe Haidar to be screening their films, “Mr. Dressup: The Magic of Make-Believe” and “Animated American”. Following these screenings, we dove into a conversation led by Whitney South, with both directors regarding their insights into artistic inspirations, collaboration, and so much more.

A Brief HIstory of Cartooning with Jason McLean
We were joined by 2023 Ting artist Jason McLean and Josh Lambier, Artistic Director of Wordsfest as they dove into the rich history of cartooning, comics, zines and graphic illustration by artists and creative industry in Southwestern Ontario. The conversation included insights into artistic collaboration, industry innovation and the pulse of London’s creative scene.

We were joined for an evening of Unscripted with artists Eric Drummond, Art Pratten and Steve Tracy. We discussed their passions, creative process and studio practice and the importance of mentorship, collaboration and creative community. This Unscripted was hosted by Brian Lambert.

We are excited to welcome Keira Loughran to Unscripted, where she shared her perspective and experiences in play development and bringing works to the stage. The host for this talk was Josh Lambier.
Unscripted with Jordi Mand
As if we weren’t already anticipating Culture Days and everything it includes, Jordi Mand will be visiting London that weekend for an Unscripted afternoon! As one of Canada’s emerging playwrights, with her most recent play Brontë: The World Without making it’s world premiere at the Stratford Festival this summer, there will be plenty to talk about with Jordi. It’ll be a conversation great for all those emerging artists out there who are developing new work -no matter what creative discipline!
About Jordi Mand
Jordi Mand is a Toronto-based playwright who has worked with some of Canada’s most prominent theatre companies. Her work has been produced nationally, internationally and published by Playwrights Canada Press. Her plays include Between the Sheets (Nightwood Theatre), Caught (Theatre Passe Muraille), This Will Be Excellent (Carousel Players). She is a 2017/2018 Resident of the Bell Media Prime TV Program at the Canadian Film Centre. She has been a Playwright-in-Residence with Theatre Passe Muraille, Carousel Players and Nightswimming Theatre. She is a past member of the Tarragon Theatre’s Playwrights Unit and the Stratford Festival’s Playwrights Retreat. Mand is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada’s Acting Program. Her new play Brontë: The World Without made its world premiere this summer at the Stratford Festival.

To kick-off our Unscripted line-up for the summer, TAP is thrilled to welcome composer and writer Britta Johnson -one of Canada's emerging voices in musical theatre.
ABOUT BRITTA JOHNSON
Britta Johnson is a Toronto-based composer, lyricist and writer. Her writing credits include: Life After (Canadian Stage/Musical Stage Company), Alligator Tears (Blyth Festival), Big Box Story (Stratford Festival special presentation). With her sister Anika Johnson: Brantwood (Theatre Sheridan; Dora Award for Audience Choice), Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang (YPT; Dora Nominee Best new musical), Trap Door (Theatre Sheridan, book by Morris Panych), Dr Silver: A Celebration of Life (Musical Stage Company/Outside the March; Opening Fall 2018). With Sara Farb: Reframed (Acting Up Stage Company/AGO; Dora nominee Best New Musical). With Katherine Cullen: Stupidhead! (Theatre Passe Muraille; Dora Nominee Best New Play). This past Spring, she was librettist for choreographer Robert Binet’s adaptation of The Kreutzer Sonata with Ballet Moscow. She is the Crescendo Artist-in-Residence with the The Musical Stage Company which includes a commitment to produce three of her shows in three years.

Daniel is a playwright/actor/director who is originally from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He has written numerous award-winning theatre productions including See Bob Run, Communion, Marion Bridge and His Greatnessand with Daniel Brooks created the solo shows House, Here Lies Henry, Monster, Cul-de-sac and This Is What Happens Next. Daniel has received the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama, the Siminovitch Prize in Theatre a Village Voice Obie Award and a GLAAD Award. He is currently touring the solo show Who Killed Spalding Gray? and is working on the libretto for Rufus Wainwright’s Hadrian commissioned by the Canadian Opera Company. In development is a new play for New Magic Valley Fun Town for Tarragon Theatre in Toronto.

Objects/Unscripted with Camille Inston and Kim Solga
Join us for a special night of Unscripted with Camille Intson and Kim Solga, featuring a unique art exhibition and panel discussion. Prior to the Unscripted conversation, you will be invited to our theatre space to view Camille’s cumulative installation Objects: London, Portrait of a City. This interdisciplinary project considers the material conditions of memory in relation to place through intimate collections of items, and their respective stories, collected and curated by the artist throughout her time as a London resident.
Immediately following will be an in-depth conversation with Camille and Kim that will explore the creative process from the perspectives of both artists and educators, including storytelling, performance, and theatre. Talk & Gawk is The ARTS Project’s theatre speaker series in which professionals from the industry are interviewed in front of an audience. This time, our featured guest is one of our Ting artists, Andrew Lewis, who has been an art director-designer for various theatre companies and productions in addition to his other internationally-acclaimed graphic artwork. Andrew will be interviewed by Josh Lambier, the Founding Director of the Public Humanities at Western and the Artistic Director of the Words Literary & Creative Arts Festival.
