This course will focus on how to achieve a lively look to your flesh tones using only four colours.
Developed by the Swedish painter Anders Zorn, using a limited palette eliminates the confusion of many colors so you can focus more on modeling and maintaining an uncanny likeness. Working from live models and a fresh portrait each week, we’ll discuss how to properly create a sketch using a variety of measuring techniques that will give you an accurate likeness every time.
After this comes the initial wash-in using one tone, then working more opaquely to take the portrait to completion. This course is a must for anyone wanting to improve their portrait painting skills with the intention of transitioning to a more extensive palette.
