About The Event
Jim Johnstone is the author of six collections of poetry, including The Chemical Life (2017). He is the recipient of a CBC Literary Award, The Fiddlehead's Ralph Gustafson Poetry Prize, and Poetry's Editors Prize for Book Reviewing. He curates the Anstruther Books imprint at Palimpsest Press, where he published The Next Wave: An Anthology of 21st Century Canadian Poetry (2018). He lives in Toronto.
Shane Neilson is a poet, physician, and scholar who completed his Ph.D. in McMaster's English and Cultural Studies Department on the representations of pain in CanLit. Dysphoria (PQL, 2017) won the Hamilton Arts Council Literary Award for Poetry in 2018. Also in 2018 his dissertation work received SSHRC's $50,000 "Talent" award. His practice is located in Guelph and he currently serves as an adjunct assistant clinical professor of medicine at McMaster University's Waterloo campus.
