Spring Flowers in Oil

Learn to paint lush spring flowers in oils. Working from life, we’ll discuss colour theory, composition, design and paint application. We’ll also learn to practice simplifying the subject so that painting them will feel more effortless. If you love floral painting but struggle to bring them to a convincing finish, this might be the class for you.

About the instructor 

Paul Abeleira is a graduate of Western’s Visual Arts program. He continues his own studies in still life and portraiture in workshops  in New York, Wisconsin and Arizona, and has instructed artists in many facets of visual arts. Paul has taught at TAP for over 10 years and has received positive responses from his students who characterize him as a sensitive coach with a broad range of skills and knowledge. He is committed to making the learning experience worthwhile.

OIL COLOURS – This list is a guide of oil colours for the class. If you have similar colours they will suffice also. Water mixable oils welcome.

Two canvases, 12”x16” or similar size, stretched or boards welcome

Wooden Palette (at least 12”x16”)

Odorless Thinner

Linseed Oil (or similar oil)

Brush Washer (or jar for thinner/water)

Paper Towels/Rags

Palette Knife
