About The Event
Street Scene is in LAB 203 from October 20th to November 14, 2026.
About the Exhibition:
This is a documentation of people seen on Dundas Street, London Ontario. It is by no means complete, as it is a constantly changing scene. People enter this space to shop, do business, meet with friends, just pass through, or live.
The images are predominantly candid photos, which are transferred onto canvas using machine stitching, then hand painting with acrylic inks.
About the Artist:
Born on the North Sea coast, I came to Canada as a child and travelled through Canada, from coast to coast spending a lot of time in libraries, museums and art galleries, especially the National Gallery in Ottawa. As a very quiet and shy child, I was constantly, watching, looking, reading and learning. Sewing my own clothing as a teen, I learned colour sense, line, dimension, draping and shadows with fabric. My maternal grandfather was a very accomplished oil painter. I like to think that some of his skills have passed on to me. Now, as a mature adult, I have been able to indulge in an art practise that I dreamed of.
Jacqueline Venus is a member of Connections Fiber Artists, Art with Panache, Candian Emroiderers' Guild London, and Studio Art Quilts Associates
Join us on Tuesday Oct 20th from 6:00PM - 8:00PM for an opening reception to view the work and meet the artist. All are welcome to this free event.
