About The Event
Join us to explore how these writers are shifting from traditional writing environments to participate in collaborative settings to gain input, new perspectives, and community. This Unscripted event will be led by Josh Lambier -the Founding Director of the Public Humanities at Western and the Artistic Director of the Words Literary & Creative Arts Festival.
About Sydney Brooman
Sydney is a poet, fiction writer, and multimedia artist who is currently in the Emerging Artist Studio Program here at TAP. They received an Honors Bachelor of Arts in English Literature & Creative Writing from Western University, where they served as Western’s Student-Writer-in-Residence (2017/2018), Co-President of the Undergraduate English Society, and Editor-in-Chief of the Slam Poetry publication SNAPS.
Their work has been published in The Temz Review, Occasus, The Gateway Review, River River, The Coffin Bell Journal, and The Iconoclast Collective. They are the creator, producer, and lead voice actor of the fiction podcast Memoriam on iTunes. Their projects explore the topics of intimacy, intergenerational trauma, and relationships between humans and natural spaces.
About Tom Cull
Tom served as Poet Laureate for the City of London, Ontario from 2016-2018. He teaches creative writing at Western University and runs Antler River Rally, a grassroots environmental group that organizes monthly cleanups of Deshkan Ziibi/Thames River. Tom’s first full-length collection of poems, Bad Animals, was published by Insomniac Press in 2018, and his chapbook What the Badger Said was published by Baseline Press in 2013. Tom's poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The New Quarterly, The Rusty Toque, and long con magazine. His poem “After Rivers” was recently published in the anthology Undocumented: Great Lakes Poet Laureates on Social Justice (MSU Press, 2019).
