Flowers have been a favourite subject of artists—and art collectors—for centuries. Unfortunately they can be difficult to paint because of their often complicated structures. Over the four weeks of this course, we will study the anatomy of many types of flowers, breaking them down to the five basic shapes of drawing thus making them less complicated for painters. Working from live setups, we will cover floral composition do’s and don’ts, block in effective colour designs and learn to simplify flurries of petals and leaves into coherent presentations of paint that will leave viewers thinking you spent months creating your masterpiece.
