About The Event

The Colorist method of painting is a unique way of mixing all colors directly on the canvas rather than on the palette. As a result, paintings shine with a glow and freshness that cannot be achieved through traditional mixing. In this course, students will learn to prepare their picture with the proper base colors into which they will mix subsequent colors to achieve the accurate mixtures they are seeking. Like magic, paintings swiftly come alive with stunning vibrance. Through demonstrations by the instructor as well as practice at the easel, students will come away with a deep understanding of light and shadow and color mixing that will fortify their performance when practicing on their own.

About the instructorPaul Abeleira is a graduate of Western’s Visual Arts program. He continues his own studies in still life and portraiture in workshops  in New York, Wisconsin and Arizona, and has instructed artists in many facets of visual arts.
