About The Event

Written by: Jean-Paul Sartre

Adapted by: Paul Bowles

In this one act Existentialist play the damned souls of a man and two women are condemned to hell where they are to remain together for eternity, except this supposed "hell" is nothing like they expected. There is no devil, no burning pits of fire, no devices for torture, instead they are confined to their single room, unable to sleep, and have nobody else to interact with but each other. This seemingly tolerable situation soon proves itself to be otherwise when they all come to the realization that "hell is other people".

Run Time: 75 min
