About The Event

Experimental Portraiture - In this course drawing the portrait will be approached perceptually and imaginatively. This class will introduce different conventional and experimental drawing methods for visualizing and rendering portraits using various visual sources including life models and mental imagery. This course will also blur the boundaries between drawing and painting as gestural media, approaching portraiture as a broadly interpreted genre.

About the Instructor - Awadh Baryoum's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. He has received numerous accolades throughout his career, among them a Fulbright Scholarship.  He was featured alongside prominent artists Dale Chihuly, Chuck Close, Louise Bourgeois, and Richard Serra in “Art Educates the World”, an exhibition and auction benefiting future Fulbright scholars at Sotheby’s New York in 2002.  In 2016, he was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Hunting Art Prize for the fourth year. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1997. Baryoum now lives in London, Ontario, Canada where he creates and teaches art.
