About the Artists:
Bijan Ghalehpartdaz is a Kurdish Iranian Canadian artist who has been an artist for decades. He started an art school at 13, earned an art diploma, and continued his education at the University of Tehran for 4 years. He then moved to Canada and later received his Fanshawe College art diploma, followed by a UWO honors art degree. He continued his studies and earned his master's degree in fine arts from the San Francisco Academy of Art University. His work comprises two distinctive techniques and methods of painting. A first method is a new approach to visual art using several layers of art resin and acrylic paint. This is a super intense and time-consuming technique, and yet very rewarding, which results in a 3-dimensional, realistic painting. The next technique is the continuation of his unique acrylic paint carving. He applies up to 70 layers of thick, high-quality acrylic paint on a hard wooden surface; this might take up to 6 months, and when all the layers are bone-dry, he carves into them using a Dremel power tool. This reductionist approach results in a one-of-a-kind and fascinating 3D painting. Bijan lives and works in London, Ontario. He has taught art for many years and has been running Bijan's art studio for the past 31 years.
Born in 1976 in the east end of Toronto, August Theodore is a self-taught modern abstract painter. Creating bold modern abstracts on canvas. With roots in graffiti & being a natural observer, August draws inspiration from urban life & the beauty of nature. Over the past 3 decades, his work has appeared in various galleries, art shows, markets & sidewalks. Across Canada and parts of Europe. As of 2016, August resides in the east end of London, Ontario. Creating art full-time from his home studio. All of his work is done in acrylic on canvas.
