About The Event
Come see the exhibition Notes From The Mindfield and stay for the artist talk. This is an opportunity to learn more about Andrew’s practice, his inspiration, and his challenges as a working artist. What moves him, what motivates him, what keeps him here in London. Andrew will be interviewed by his daughter Andrea Valentine-Lewis who will dig in deep to get to the core of her dad’s creativity.
About the Artist
Andrew Lewis is an internationally recognized Canadian artist and designer. His artwork has been commissioned by clients such as the British Columbia Arts Council, Canada Post, the Royal Canadian Mint, Perrier, Scotiabank, the Stratford Festival, Starbucks Coffee, Converse, and VISA.
His work is included in numerous international collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the French National Library, the Permanent Collection of the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., the International Poster Biennial in Mexico City, and the Design Museum in London, England.
Running parallel with his corporate commissions, Andrew Lewis delves into fine art through acrylic and oil painting, where his focus sharpens on figurative compositions and the nuanced application of color. His work intricately weaves a narrative that explores the human experience within both public and personal spaces, capturing the essence of individual stories through sophisticated color palettes and dynamic forms. Lewis’s art complements his professional endeavors and stands as a testament to his commitment to understanding and depicting the complexities of human interaction and identity.

About the Interviewer
Andrea Valentine-Lewis (she/her) is a curator and writer based on the unceded territories of the Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh people, also known as Vancouver. Her exhibitions have been presented at Access Gallery (2025), Equinox Gallery (2022), Burrard Arts Foundation (2022), Deluge Contemporary Art (2020), and Unit 17 (2019), with public art projects at Vancouver Art Gallery (2024) and Capture Photography Festival (2022). Valentine-Lewis works as a Curatorial Assistant at Vancouver Art Gallery where she most recently worked with Eva Respini on Postcards from the Heart: From the Brigitte and Henning Freybe Collection (2025) and Firelei Báez (2024). She received an MA in Art History from McGill University and a BA in Art, Performance and Cinema Studies from Simon Fraser University. She was the 2022 recipient of the Emerging Alumni Award from SFU’s Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, and was recently named the 2025/26 Curatorial Fellow at the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art.
