WHAT IF    CONNOR MACKINNON

HERE IS A VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE EXHIBITION

HERE IS A CLOSER LOOK OF THE WORK

The work in this exhibition is the product of an artistic practice built on visualizing and manifesting a series of “what if” questions. These open ended questions present a jumping off point which allow ideas to grow and change. While the questions being considered have been derived from a variety of sources ranging from physical found objects to software systems, they are all situated within the scope of imagination. They aim to envision the potential of spaces that cannot be seen and objects that cannot be known. These artworks are not answers to any “what if” questions but the thoughts produced while considering them.

While MacKinnon’s practice is driven conceptually, he finds balance and satisfaction in a making practice, be it physical or digital, and strives to maintain a sense of harmony between intellectual gratification, experimentation, aesthetic pleasure, and craftsmanship. This exhibition is the culmination of a year's work as part of the Emerging Artists Studio Program and has been made possible through the support of the TAP Centre for Creativity.

EMERGING ARTISTS STUDIO PROGRAM

The Emerging Artists Studio Program was developed to allow London’s up-and-coming creators to explore their art without the fear of financial failure. It provides emerging artists with one year of 24/7 access to a private studio, a materials budget, marketing support, as well as mentorship by members of the creative community. At the end of their term, the artists also have their own exhibition in TAP’s gallery to showcase a full body of work.

We want to thank the RBC Foundation in addition to our amazing donors who make the Emerging Artists Studio Program possible. For more information about the Emerging Artists Studio Program, please click here.
