Peter Kryshtalovich

The earliest visual influences on the artist’s work were l’Art Brut, l’Art Informel and Matter paintings – Antoni Tapies for example, as well as certain aspects of North American Abstract Expressionism – most particularly as reflected in Cy Twombly’s works.

Peter’s “Open Works” constitute an exploration of the symbolic and communicative power that we distill from texture and colour alone. His mixed media paintings typically incorporate some combination of sand, ashes, dust, chalk, marble dust, modelling paste, paper, cardboard and varnishes - coloured with raw pigments, acrylic paints, pencil, pencil crayon and watercolours.
